Iversity - Online courses from the European MOOC platform

Iversity is an online learning platform powered by MOOC

Iversity is an online education platform based in Berlin. Since October 2013, iversity has specialized in offering online courses and conferences in higher education, especially MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses). The courses are free and open to all registered and participants. Many of them offer courses in English or German, but also in other languages. Iversity cooperates with individual professors and various European universities. Some of the courses won the MOOC Production Fellowship competition organized in early 2013. In October 2013, iversity.org officially launched its online MOOC platform, and as of February 2015, it already has 600,000 online students enrolled in 63 courses from 41 partner universities. Iversity is the only MOOC platform that offers courses with ECTS integration. Iversity has offices in Bernau (Berlin, Germany) and Berlin.

Iversity earns revenue from the sale of certificates students receive online after successfully completing courses on iversity.org, which are aimed at all types of students, including professionals who need to document their academic progress and undergraduate students. [32] Some university courses can be integrated into a student's degree through the European Credit Transfer and Collection System (ECTS). Iversity has raised more than 5 million euros in venture capital. Investors include T-Venture, bmp media investors, BFB Frühphasenfonds, Masoud Kamali, Westtech Ventures, CRALS, Peter Zühlsdorf and Kontor B45. The university's advisory board includes Dr. Jörg Dreger and Professor Eduard Hasson.

Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) have become a real alternative to other forms of distance learning. In the last two years, in addition to the open curricula of the world's leading universities, independent and specialized websites – MOOC aggregators such as Udemy and Coursera – have appeared on the Internet. Another example is university.org.

What is a MOOC? A course where all course materials and assignments are available online anywhere in the world. A MOOC brings together teachers and students interested in a specific topic. The more participants and the more open the material, the more effective the learning will be.

Iversity offers such a course for everyone completely free of charge. All you need to do is three easy steps to start learning today: choose your favorite course, sign up and start learning. I would also like to draw your attention to the fact that the platform has German roots, which is why some courses are offered in German.

The “first sinkholes,” which became the prototype for MOOCs, included 11 places where you could take college courses for free. Continuing on the theme, MIT's online resource, MIT OpenCourseWare, announced more new free self-study materials. And Yale University soon followed suit, offering 35 courses through Open Yale Courses.

Iversity is currently inviting everyone to participate in free continuing education courses at European universities.
